Update: 1/6/20
Due to Covid-19, Hanmer Salsa Winter Fest won't be running for 2020. It's sad news because this event has been running over 20 years without a break, however we aim to be back for 2021!

Update: 10/10/19
We can confirm our 2020 Instructors for Hanmer so far!
- Jaime Jesus & Sera from Australia for Salsa & Bachata.
- Jeremy Lao from New Caledonia for Kizomba Workshops.

Update: 8/9/19 Our 2019 event was the best on record, yet again, it just gets better and better every year!. A special thanks to all the teachers, dancers, supporters, organisers & helpers for 2019.
For next year we have already worked out a great Kizomba teacher from overseas for 2020 and other teachers info to come. The countdown clock has been reset for 2020, so don't miss out on 2020 and get those early birds passes when they come out.

Accomodation & Traval Tips:
A great way to cut costs down, is to share rides & Accomodation with other dancers. We recommend contacting Hanmer Holiday Homes or Air Bnb and share a house. More information on the Hanmer Page
If you are posting to share rides, or have a room to advertise for this event so you can share a house, or if you are looking for these, please join or add your ad in this facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/hanmersalsa

Tips for Beginners:

Learn from your local school before coming to the event to get the most out of the workshops. We have a list of Sponsored schools listed on the sponsor page here.

So there might be something in your area. If you can't join classes there is still beginner/open classes you can join and you get a whopping discount if you get the beginner full pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

What way is the best?
Most people will travel up and spend 2-3 nights in Hanmer, leaving Friday afternoon or after work and staying the Friday & Saturday Night. Accommodation between a group of dancers is often very cheap and fairly easy to organise with your fellow dance class friends. The average house to hire can work out as little as $20 per person per night, you can join our Facebook group to find more people willing to do this. Some people will travel up on the Saturday morning, while others will just travel to make the party and leave the same night without staying. We prefer to stay 2 nights so we can relax in the hot pools & make the most of the weekend. You choose! . read more on the Hanmer page about booking a Holiday Home or Air BnB

Can I just come to the Parties?
Yes and its cheap! you don't need a full pass, you can buy workshops or party entry as you go, see the prices page

House Pool & Car Pool?
If you want to link in with other people traveling or staying in Hanmer join our Facebook group and advertise your house to fill it or car to carpool..

Who can come?
Yes this event is open to the public, everyone is welcome. Dancer or Non Dancer.

Do I need experience?
Everyone is welcome, including people with no dance knowledge. This is fun supportive event designed for everyone.

I'm an absolute Beginner what's available to me?
If you have never learnt to dance before you should attend the Intro prior to the party and the parties. Most of the workshops are designed for dancers who are already learning, so we would recommend learning Salsa or Latin dances prior to going to this event to get the most out of it. However we will be offering a Beginner Package if you haven't danced before, see the Booking Page. ..See our sponsors below for some dance schools around NZ.

Do I Need to Book?
No, you are not required to, you can just turn up on the day. However we recommend to book online for a great discount!
